08.00 Transfer to Kostroma (~ 270 km). Kostroma was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky (Yuri the Long Hands) as an outpost on the north-eastern boundary of Russia. The centre of the city is a peculiar example of the 17th-early 19th centuries Russian architecture. There is a fire tower in the centre which is a symbol of Kostroma. |

15.00 Kostroma sightseeing tour including a visit to the numerous buildings of trade rows (Red and Grand Flour Strip Malls, Gingerbread Strip Malls, Tobacco Strip Malls, Butter and Milk Strip Malls ). You will also see the 17th century Church of the Resurrection with bright exterior decoration, riverside station where you will start a trip along the bank of Volga river and see old wooden residential quarters with buildings richly decorated with carved wood. A visit to the 16th century five-domed Epiphany Cathedral which is the first stone building in the city is planned as well. |

08.40 Transfer to Plyos (~ 70 km). A peaceful picturesque town Plyos is situated down the Volga River near Kostroma. It was founded in 1410 by Vasili I as a border post. It's in Plyos where the famous russian painter Levitan's house-museum and monument are situated. Plyos is often called "Russian Switzerland". |

10.00 A the view into history tour about Plyos, panoramic tour, "Levitan's Living masterpieces" excursion, a trip to the Levitan house-museum. The exposition is divided into three sections: Plyos period of Levitan's life, artworks by Levitan, and artworks by his contemporaries. |
