Day 1 |

8.00 Transfer to Yaroslavl (~ 260 km) founded in 1010 as an outpost of the Principality of Rostov Veliky. The ancient legend says that Prince Yaroslav the Wise conquered local pagan tribes by axing the sacred bear whom the tribes worshipped (we can see that bear on the city's coat of arms). |

14.30 City sightseeing tour including a visit to Spaso-Preobrazhensky ("Transfiguration of the Saviour") Cathedral of the Spassky (St Saviour) Monastery which was constructed in 1506—1516 and which is the most ancient building of the city. You will also pay a visit to old churches of St. Nicholas Nadein and Elijah the Prophet which have the Golden Ring's most impressive looking frescoes. After that we plan to enjoy the Ancient Russian Art exhibition. |

Day 2 |

09.00-09.30 Breakfast. Transfer to Selo Velikoye (Great Village). |

11.00 Selo Velikoye is situated 40 km from Yaroslavl. The main sight of the place is the group of buildings consisting of two churches dating back to the 18th century and a belfry. You will also visit the Lokalovs country estate with its main mansion built in a pseudo-russian style and decorated with turrets, weathercocks and surrounded with marvelous forged fence. After that we will do a sightseeing tour around the village and visit the Local History Museum. |
